From 5 to 7 September 2025, the Benedictine Abbey of Lubiń hosted the Jubilee commemorating the 450th anniversary of the birth of the Servant of God Father Bernard of Wąbrzeźno OSB. The celebration was combined with the annual meeting of Benedictine superiors from Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine.

The participants included the superiors of the Benedictine nuns from Staniątki, Żarnowiec, Przemyśl, Jarosław, Krzeszów, Wołów, and Lviv-Solonka; the Benedictine monks from Tyniec, Biskupów, and Sampor, together with Fr. Maksymilian Nawara OSB, Abbot President of the Congregation of the Annunciation; the Benedictine-Sacramentine nuns from Warsaw and Siedlce; the Camaldolese nuns from Złoczew and the Camaldolese monks from Bieniszewo; as well as the general superiors of the Benedictine Missionary Sisters, the Benedictine Samaritan Sisters, and the Sisters of Our Lady of Loreto.

The programme featured the traditional pilgrimage to the grave of Father Bernard, which drew several hundred faithful, a lecture by Rev. Dr. Grzegorz Strzelczyk on authority in the synodal Church, and the visit of Archbishop Antonio Guido Filipazzi, Apostolic Nuncio to Poland.

Father Bernard of Wąbrzeźno (1575–1603), born Błażej Pęcherek, entered the monastery at Lubiń after his studies and was soon appointed master of novices. He became known for his fervour in prayer, Eucharistic adoration, and service to others. Though he lived only 28 years, his reputation for holiness spread quickly and devotion to him has endured for more than four centuries.

The process towards his beatification, which seeks to confirm his ancient cult, was reopened in 2011 and is now in the final stage of the diocesan phase. In 2024, a new postulator was appointed and the Historical Commission was renewed. The cause is progressing steadily, continuing the witness of Father Bernard’s enduring example.
