The 2024 Congress of Abbots called Benedictine communities to become active peacebuilders, beginning within their own monasteries. Inspired by Saint Benedict’s message of reconciliation and Pope Francis’s appeal, the Congress urged a renewed commitment to prayer, hospitality and unity during the coming Holy Year.

Abbot Jeremias Schröder elected Abbot Primate of the Benedictine Confederation

On 14 September 2024, Abbot Jeremias Schröder OSB, of St. Ottilien Archabbey in Eresing, Germany, was elected abbot primate of the Benedictine Confederation at the Congress of Abbots meeting in Rome. He is the 11th abbot primate to be elected. Story and photos here.
