Father Jacques Audebert, monk-priest of the Abbey of Fleury, passed away tragically on June 18, 2025, in his 80th year, in a road accident. Though nearly 80, he was in good health and actively serving his monastic community.

Born in Vendôme in 1946, he entered the monastery in 1965, made his religious profession in 1967, and was ordained a priest in 1979. Over nearly six decades of monastic life, he held numerous roles: master of oblates, editor of Renaissance de Fleury, archivist, and official photographer of the community. He was also a spiritual guide, confessor to several communities of religious women, and retreat preacher.

From 1991 to 2006, he served as parish priest of Saint-Benoît-sur-Loire and later became acting prior of the Abbey from 2019 to 2022. Talented and multi-skilled—musician, hymn composer, and handyman—he leaves behind a rich legacy of service, dedication, and faith. The community mourns his sudden loss and entrusts him to your prayers, awaiting his funeral on Monday, June 30 at 11:30 a.m. in the basilica.
