Jákó Örs Fehérváry OSB, il nuovo rettore del Pontificio Ateneo Sant’Anselmo.

  • The new Rector of our Ateneo Sant’Anselmo, Fr Jáko Fehérváry of Pannonhalma Archabbey (Hungarian Congregation) was confirmed by the Holy See and will begin his office on 9 September.
  • On 26 June, Fr Laurentius Eschlböck OSB of Schottenstift, Vienna (Austrian Congregation) and currently our pro-rector, was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Theology at Sant’Anselmo
  • On 24 June, Pope Leo XIV appointed Abbot Donato Ogliari of St Paul’s Outside the Walls (Subiaco-Cassinese Congregation) member of the Dicastery for Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic life.
  • On 18 June, the monks of Mariastein (Swiss Congregation) elected a new abbot, Fr Ludwig Zierer, for a period of 6 years. His predecessor, Fr Peter von Sury, has accepted an assignment as confessor at St Paul’s Outside the Walls during the Holy Year.
  • Also on 18 June, Abbot Isaac Camacho of St Leo’s Abbey, Florida, concluded his term of office.
  • On 12 June, Abbot President Geoffroi Kemlin of the Solesmes Congregation appointed P. Frans Schlatmann Prior Administrator of the Abbey of Vaals after the resignation of Abbot Adrian Lenglet.
  • On 10 June, the community of St. Lambrecht (Austrian Congregation) elected Fr Alfred Eichmann their new abbot, for a period of twelve years. Abbot Alfred will assume the office on 10 July after the end of the mandate of his predecessor Abbot Benedikt Plank.
  • On 8 June, Pope Leo accepted the resignation of Bishop Gregor Maria Hanke of Eichstätt, Germany. Bishop Gregor was abbot of Plankstetten, of the Bavarian Congregation, from 1993 until 2006. At this stage, there are six Benedictine bishops in active service: Archbishop Mathew Mookakkattu Mettopolitan of Kottayam, a monk of Montenero (Vallumbrosians); Archbishop Fernando Antonio Sburido of Olinda and Recife, monk of Olinda (Brazilian); Titular Bishop Gregorio Leoziri Paixao, auxiiary of Brasilia and monk of Bahia (Brazilian); Bishop Cletus Chandrasiri Perera of Ratnapur, monk of Montefano (Silvestrines); Bishop Dominicus Meier of Osnabrück, monk of Königsmünster (Ottilien); Tit. Bishop Elias Lorenzo, auxiliary of Newark, monk of Morristown (American-Cassinese); Bishop Hugh Gilbert, Bishop of Aberdeen and monk of Pluscarden (Subiaco Cassinese); Bishop Francis Alleyne, Bishop of Georgetown, Guyana, and monk of Our Lady of Exile, Tunapuna, Republic of Trinidad and Tobago (Annunciation).
  • On June 6, Abbot Marianus Bieber awarded the Emmanuel-Heufelder-Preis, an award sponsored by the Abbey of Niederaltaich (Bavarian Congregation), to His Beatitude the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartolomaius of Constantinople. The Abbey of Niederaltaich is one of the monasteries which embraced the request made by Pope PIus XI in 1924 to the Abbot Primate that Benedictine abbeys should engage in more meaningful ecumenical relations with the Eastern churches. Part of the Niederaltaich community live and pray according to the Byzantine rite.
