On the morning of 30 August 2026, the Reverend Father Prior Hugo Josef Aust, OSB, passed away peacefully at the Abbey, following a chronic heart condition.
Born in 1949 in Mörlen, Westerwald, he made his monastic profession at Tholey Abbey in 1988 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1991.
After several years of pastoral ministry, Fr. Hugo served for many years as Subprior and, most recently, as Prior of the Abbey. May he be received into the mercy of God and rest in the peace of Christ.
