Brother Magnus (Franz Xaver) Huber, OSB, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025, at age 89. He was a Missionary Benedictine of St. Ottilien for 65 years. Born in 1935, in Legau, Germany, he lost both parents at a young age. He worked as a farmhand before entering the monastery in 1958. Brother Magnus took his vows in 1960 and made his solemn profession in 1963. He dedicated his life to agricultural work in various monasteries. His tasks included milking, cattle care, and pig breeding.

When the Wessobrunn monastery farm closed in 1996, he returned to St. Ottilien. There, he continued caring for young cattle until an accident in 2007. Despite his condition, he remained cheerful and engaged in monastic life. He enjoyed reading newspapers, smoking cigars, and praying the rosary. Brother Magnus was known for his hard work, strength, and deep faith.

His humor and attachment to his hometown were evident throughout his life. Hearing loss in later years made communication difficult, but he remained kind. He valued his family, who visited him regularly. Reflecting on his life, he found joy in prayer, community, and nature. Brother Magnus passed away with gratitude and peace. May he now experience the fullness of life in the presence of God.
