Fr. Raimund Gut OSB

Fr. Raimund (Anton) Gut from Zurich passed away at the Einsiedeln Hospital on the evening of 18 July. He was born on 7 October 1936. Fr. Raimund attended the Stiftsschule Einsiedeln and graduated with his diploma in 1958. A year later, he entered the monastery and took his temporary vows in 1960, followed by his perpetual vows in 1963. On 26 October of the same year, he was ordained as a priest.

Throughout his life, Fr. Raimund served in the parishes of Freienbach, Eschenz, and Pfäffikon, taking care of pastoral duties. He also served in various roles at the Stiftsschule and the administration of the monastery. In his final years, he served as a spiritual director at the Kloster Seedorf.

Fr. Raimund passed away at the age of 87 and in his 63rd year of religious profession.

The announcement was made on 18 July 2023, from Einsiedeln, Switzerland, by Abbot Urban, the monastery’s community, and family members.

The funeral will be held at Kloster Einsiedeln on Saturday, 22 July 22 2023, at 10:30 a.m. The memorial service (Dreissigste) is scheduled for Saturday, 19 August 2023, at 11:15 a.m. Additionally, the annual memorial service (Jahrzeit) will take place on Saturday, 20 July 2024, at 11:15 a.m.
