Father Lluís Duch OSB of Montserrat died on 11 November 2018 at the age of 82.  He was known for his great intellect, being author of over 50 books and booklets, with more than 300 articles and collaborative pieces in various collective works across the fields of theology and anthropology.  The volume Empalabrar el mundo. The anthropological thought of Lluís Duch, published by Fragmenta, brings together many of his most significant contributions.

Father Lluís Duch was born in Barcelona on 13 September 1936 and entered the monastery of Montserrat in 1961, being ordained a priest in 1969.  He earned his doctorate in Anthropology and Theology at the University of Tübingen (Germany) and was professor at various prominent institutions.  Among his efforts, he translated the writings of Luther, Müntzer, Silesius, Schleiermacher, Bonhoeffer and Schönberg into Catalan and Spanish.

The funeral Mass of Father Lluís Duch took place on Tuesday 13 November 2018 at the Basilica of Santa Maria de Montserrat, presided over by Abbot Josep M. Soler of Montserrat.
