The Catalogus Working Group comprises members from the Communio Internationalis Benedictinarum (CIB) and the Benedictine Confederation: Father Patrick Carter of Clear Creek Abbey, Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA, who serves in the Curia of the Abbot Primate; Sister Lucy Fitzmorris from St. Joseph Monastery in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Sister Tamra Thomas from St. Benedict’s Monastery in St. Joseph, Minnesota, USA; and Postulant Jana Durisova from Saint Anne’s Monastery in Bastia Umbria, Italy.
The Catalogus Project
The Catalogus of Benedictine men and women serves as a tangible expression of the unity of the Benedictine spirit worldwide. It compiles data from all Congregations and Confederations of Benedictine men and women into two separate but similarly structured volumes.
Historically, the CIB Catalogus was produced by the Curia of the Abbot Primate. However, a team of Benedictine women is now responsible for gathering the data and producing the new volume. Simultaneously, the working group is developing a common platform to maximize their efforts and ensure consistency between the two volumes.
Recent Meeting and Progress
The working group recently held its first full-group meeting at Saint Joseph’s Monastery in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they were received with warm hospitality. The week focused on both essential team-building and intensive technical discussions and planning. The meeting was further enriched by a video conference with Abbot Primate Jeremias Schroeder and an in-person discussion with Sr. Lynn McKenzie, of Sacred Heart Monastery in Cullman, Alabama, USA, who serves as the moderator of the CIB.
