Abbot David J. Cyr OSB died peacefully the morning of 21 July in Hospice care at St. Patrick’s Residence in Naperville, Illinois.
Abbot David, the third Abbot of Marmion Abbey, served as an Instructor, Librarian, Dormitory Prefect, Head of Admissions, Academic Dean and Headmaster at the Academy in the years 1951-1971. As Abbot of Marmion Abbey from 1971-1991, he was President of the Academy.
The monks received his body on Tuesday, 24 July at 4:00 p.m. Visitation followed until 8:00 p.m., with Vespers at 5:00 and Vigils of the Office of the Dead at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continued on Wednesday, 25 July from 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.
