Father Aurelius Boberek, OSB, a devoted monk and priest of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, passed away at the age of 94 on May 27, 2024. Born Francis Ambrose Boberek in Brooklyn, NY, on February 12, 1930, he pursued a rigorous academic path, earning multiple degrees, including an Ed.D. from Indiana University and an honorary Doctorate in Sacred Theology from the American College of Louvain. He entered the novitiate at Saint Meinrad in 1951, professed solemn vows in 1955, and was ordained in 1957. His career spanned teaching Latin and religion, serving as dean of students and vice rector, and directing liturgical formation at the American College of Louvain. Renowned for his contributions to liturgy and education, he retired in 2005, receiving the Archbishop Fulton Sheen Medal. Services in his honor were held at Saint Meinrad Archabbey on May 31 and June 1, with a livestream available.
