Fr. Gregor (Peter) Jäggi, from Recherswil, Canton of Solothurn, passed away in the early hours of July 23 after patiently enduring a long illness. Fr. Gregor was born in 1954. After completing his secondary education (Matura), he studied History and Geography in Fribourg and Paris. After obtaining his licentiate degree, he prepared in Rome for his work as an archivist at the diocesan curia in Solothurn, a position he held until 1989.

In 1990, Fr. Gregor entered Einsiedeln Abbey. He studied Theology and earned a doctorate in History in 1992. That same year, he made his temporary profession. In 1995, he made his solemn profession, and one year later, he was ordained a priest.

At the monastery, Fr. Gregor served as novice master, theology teacher, and archivist. He was also a sought-after confessor and spiritual director, and often served as a substitute priest. From 2013 to 2022, he held the office of Subprior. Fr. Gregor died in the 72nd year of his life and the 33rd year of his monastic profession.
