Abbot Bruno Hubl OSB, former Abbot of Admont, entered eternal life on 27 February 2026 after a long and deeply dedicated life of service to God and the Church. Born in 1947 in Upper Austria, he discovered his vocation early and joined the Benedictine community of Admont as a young man. Ordained to the priesthood in 1971, he brought warmth, diligence, and spiritual depth to every ministry entrusted to him. His formation in liturgy, shaped from his earliest years in the monastery, became a hallmark of his identity and a source of inspiration to generations of confreres.

Throughout his decades of priestly service, Abbot Bruno served as chaplain, pastor, vicar, novice master, prior, and ultimately as the 67th Abbot of Admont. His leadership was characterized not by strictness but by kindness, generosity, and a heartfelt concern for the people entrusted to him. He was known across diocesan borders for his tireless ministry of Confirmation, his resonant laughter, and his gift for preaching—homilies that often sought their “Amen” with humour and humility. Even as physical frailty and illness took hold, he remained faithful to prayer, community life, and the sacramental rhythm that had shaped his entire vocation.

He leaves behind a legacy of pastoral zeal, monastic stability, and deep humanity. His bond with his family, especially his devoted sisters, remained a source of strength until his final days. Surrounded by loved ones and his confreres, he ultimately embraced the call to “let go,” surrendering his life into God’s loving hands. In gratitude, we remember him as a gentle father of his community, a steadfast servant of Christ, and a man whose goodness touched many lives. May he rest in the peace of the Lord he served so faithfully.
