God, the Lord of life, called Br. Deocar (Hermann) Ritzer OSB to his eternal home on Thursday, 8 January 2026.
Brother Deocar was born in 1932 in Herrieden, district of Ansbach. In 1951 he entered the Abbey of Münsterschwarzach and made his profession in 1954. For six years he cared for the sick confreres in our infirmary. In 1962 a new chapter of his life began: he belonged to the founding community in Kemphausen/Damme. For 40 years he shaped the monastery in Damme. Through his travels on behalf of the Mission Office in northern Germany, he became a contact person and pastor for many people. In 2002 he returned to the abbey.
