Father Pius (Franz Günther) Paul died on Friday, 28 March 2025, at the Provincial Hospital in Vryheid.

Born in Cologne in 1936, he made his monastic profession at Münsterschwarzach in 1960, where he was also ordained a priest in 1965. In 1968, he received a mission assignment for Zululand. After his arrival in the country of the Zulu in September 1968 and acquainting himself with his new environment, he worked in different parishes (Empangeni, Richards Bay, Vryheid) until he retired from parish work and moved to the abbey in 2009. He willingly helped out with pastoral needs as long as his physical condition allowed this.

The Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, 3 March 2025, at 10 am. May his soul rest in peace.
