With sorrow in our hearts, we announce to all that on 19 June 2019, our confrere Father Augustin Ladislav Gazda OSB was summoned suddenly to the heavenly kingdom by the will of the Almighty. Prior Administrator of the Benedictine Abbey of Saints Peter and Paul in Rajhrad and of the Benedictine Abbey of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Jerome in Emauzy, Father Augustin first entered the Benedictine way of life at Norcia, Italy, where he lived as a monk emigrated from the Emauzy Benedictine community. On 6 August 1990, he professed his monastic vows in the presence of Father Cyril Stavěl OSB in Norcia.
Since 1997, Father Augustin has served as the Prior Administrator at Rajhrad, and from 2016 also as Prior Administrator of Emauzy.
The last farewell to Father Augustin Ladislav Gazda OSB took place on Thursday, 27 June 2019 at 2.00 pm, in the abbey church of Saints Peter and Paul in Rajhrad, with burial in the cemetery of the parish church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, where he has been laid to rest alongside his Benedictine confreres of Rajhrad.
