Father Nathan J. Munsch OSB

Father Nathan (James) Munsch, O.S.B., a monk of Saint Vincent Archabbey, passed away on 20 March 2024, after a four-year battle with ALS. Born in Pittsburgh on 19 August 1951, he was one of nine children, including the famous author Robert Munsch. Father Nathan graduated from the University of Notre Dame and Duquesne University, later becoming a Benedictine monk and earning a doctorate in systematic theology from Boston College. He served in various roles at Mount Saviour Monastery and Saint Vincent Archabbey, including teaching at Saint Vincent College and Seminary and serving as a hospital chaplain and parish pastor. Known for his cheerful demeanor despite his illness, he continued to impact his community until his retirement in 2020, after which an endowed scholarship was established in his honor.
