{"id":4359,"date":"2018-11-14T17:31:33","date_gmt":"2018-11-14T16:31:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/osb.org\/?p=4359"},"modified":"2020-02-04T10:39:48","modified_gmt":"2020-02-04T09:39:48","slug":"father-claude-arthur-seeberger-osb","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/osb.org\/pt-br\/2018\/11\/14\/father-claude-arthur-seeberger-osb\/","title":{"rendered":"Father Claude (Arthur) Seeberger OSB"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-1 fusion-flex-container nonhundred-percent-fullwidth non-hundred-percent-height-scrolling\" style=\"--awb-border-radius-top-left:0px;--awb-border-radius-top-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-right:0px;--awb-border-radius-bottom-left:0px;--awb-flex-wrap:wrap;\" ><div class=\"fusion-builder-row fusion-row fusion-flex-align-items-flex-start fusion-flex-content-wrap\" style=\"max-width:calc( 1100px + 0px );margin-left: calc(-0px \/ 2 );margin-right: calc(-0px \/ 2 );\"><div class=\"fusion-layout-column fusion_builder_column fusion-builder-column-0 fusion_builder_column_1_1 1_1 fusion-flex-column\" style=\"--awb-bg-size:cover;--awb-width-large:100%;--awb-margin-top-large:0px;--awb-spacing-right-large:0px;--awb-margin-bottom-large:20px;--awb-spacing-left-large:0px;--awb-width-medium:100%;--awb-spacing-right-medium:0px;--awb-spacing-left-medium:0px;--awb-width-small:100%;--awb-spacing-right-small:0px;--awb-spacing-left-small:0px;\"><div class=\"fusion-column-wrapper fusion-flex-justify-content-flex-start fusion-content-layout-column\"><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-1\"><p>Father Claude (Arthur) Seeberger, O.S.B., monk of Assumption Abbey in Richardton, North Dakota (USA), died peacefully on 1 October 2018 attended by his brother monks.<\/p>\n<p>Father Claude was born in Glen Ullin, North Dakota, on 17 November 1924 and attended Assumption Abbey High School and College even after his family moved to California in 1942.\u00a0 He entered the novitiate in 1943 and was given the name Claude, mentioned in 2 Timothy 4.21.\u00a0 He professed vows as a Benedictine on 11 July 1944 and was ordained to the priesthood on 10 August 1949.<\/p>\n<p>During his monastic life, Father Claude served as instructor to the Brothers and also taught in the Abbey schools.\u00a0 In 1956, he completed his Master of Arts degree in Church History at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n<p>Father Claude also served the community in a number of other ways, including as Abbey Procurator, pastor of several local parishes, chaplain to Saint Joseph\u2019s Hospital in Dickinson, North Dakota, and chaplain to the Sisters of the presentation at Maryvale in Valley City, North Dakota.<\/p>\n<p>Father Claude was an avid fisherman and built his own houseboat so that he could travel the waters of Lake Sakakawea in comfort although, according to his abbot and monastic community, the boat looked like it was held together with twine and chewing gum.\u00a0 He also loved bird watching and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins baseball team.<\/p>\n<p>A Vigil Service was held on 3 October 2018 at Assumption Abbey, with Mass of Christian Burial at Assumption Abbey on 4 October 2018 and subsequent burial in the Abbey cemetery.\u00a0 We commend Father Claude to the prayers of all monks of the Benedictine Confederation.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-separator fusion-full-width-sep\" style=\"align-self: center;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;margin-bottom:30px;width:100%;\"><\/div><div ><a class=\"fusion-button button-flat fusion-button-default-size button-default fusion-button-default button-1 fusion-button-default-span fusion-button-default-type\" style=\"width:calc(100%);\" target=\"_self\" href=\"https:\/\/osb.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Seeburger-OBIT.pdf\"><span class=\"fusion-button-text awb-button__text awb-button__text--default\">PDF OF SEEBURGER OBITUARY<\/span><\/a><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Assumption Abbey<br \/>Richardton, North Dakota (USA)<br \/>1 October 2018<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":7942,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[85],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-4359","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-obituaries"],"cc_featured_image_caption":{"caption_text":"Assumption Abbey Richardton ND, cropped | \r\n","source_text":"By Elias Theanpont -
