Born in 1941, in Bayums, Germany, he was the fifth of six children. He began his vocational journey in carpentry and later felt called to monastic life during his apprenticeship at St. Ottilien. He entered the novitiate in 1960, made his temporary profession in 1961, and his solemn vows in 1967, taking the name Francis Xavier in honor of the missionary saint.

Brother Xaver was a man of many talents and quiet diligence. Over the decades, he served in various roles: carpentry, kitchen work, guest hospitality, and even porter duty. His most enduring contribution was in the guest department, where he cared for visitors with warmth and precision. A man of order and quiet generosity, he was deeply committed to community life and spiritual unity. Though considered for mission work abroad, he chose instead to serve faithfully at home, dedicating himself to small but impactful tasks. His ability to do minor repairs, his reliability, and his caring nature made him an ideal guest brother and beloved community member.

Health challenges marked his later years. Still, he remained cheerful and active in community prayer and support roles. His time in a clinic for therapy was transformative, leading him to develop creative skills through art and handicraft. Even as he moved into the infirmary, he continued to bring joy to those around him. Ever focused on being spiritually prepared, Brother Xaver lived a life of service and humility. His funeral Mass and burial will be held at the Abbey Church of St. Ottilien on May 26, 2025. May he now rest in the eternal peace he so deeply prepared for.

<div class="fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-3 fusion-flex-container
