Father Honorius (Friedrich) Aigner, Benedictine of Kremsmünster Abbey and Consistorial Counselor, returned to the Father’s house on June 24, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on November 26, 1934, in Buchkirchen, Friedrich attended the Kremsmünster Abbey high school and entered the monastery in 1953, taking the name Honorius. After studying philosophy and theology at Kremsmünster and Salzburg, he was ordained a priest in 1958 and celebrated his first Mass in his hometown.

He had a long pastoral career, initially serving as chaplain in Thalheim and later as parish priest in several communities, including Eberstalzell, Mariazell, and Sattledt. In Sattledt, where he served for thirty years, he dedicated himself to building the parish center and renovating the church. After his time in Sattledt, he continued serving as curate in Buchkirchen, Allhaming, Thalheim, and Schleißheim until his retirement at Kremsmünster.

Fr. Honorius was known for his accessible yet profound spirituality, his innovative ideas, and his deep pastoral dedication. Even in advanced age, he was actively involved in monastery life, bringing joy to the community with his sense of humor and guitar playing. His final years were spent in the monastery’s infirmary, where, despite his physical decline, he continued to offer comfort and joy to his fellow brothers.

The vigil will be held on July 1, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. in the church of Sattledt, while the funeral service will take place on July 2 at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial in the monastery cemetery.
