On Thursday evening, 22 November 2018, the Feast of Saint Cecilia, P\u00e8re Pascal\u00a0Pezzi\u00a0OSB went to meet his Lord.\u00a0 He was 86 years old, born in Cars (Gironde), France on 27 September 1932, and making his monastic profession on 22 July 1958.<\/p>\n

\u00ab\u00a0Pascalou\u00a0\u00bb was a homebody, as it\u00a0is said of a beloved brother, and also because he had cultivated his childhood throughout his life, he brought unexpected joy and amusement when the community took itself too seriously.\u00a0 Being a good-looking person, he knew how to throw out a little bird call or flap his wings when faced with a distressed or scowling brother. This good-naturedness did not prevent him from having very fixed ideas, and judgments that sometimes were even severe.<\/p>\n

He was indefatigable for a long time, struggling though great labors of all kinds — which never fail to present themselves at the monastery — and he was remarkably gifted also in the precision of his work.\u00a0The carpentry workshop was his favorite place.\u00a0It was also due to the sawdust he breathed in, without taking proper precautions, that his heart and lung problems came about and ultimately forced him to retire, at age 80, leading him to become a man of long prayer, not lacking courage.<\/p>\n

In the 1970s, he was the first citharist of En\u00a0Calcat, accompanying the Little Hours and Vigils with real musical talent, which is why\u00a0Saint Cecilia came to inspire him to join her in heaven, so that he could animate the Offices up above, among the angels whom he loved so much while on earth.<\/p>\n

The funeral Mass of P\u00e8re Pascal Pezzi OSB was celebrated on Saturday, 24 November at 15.00 at Abbaye Saint Beno\u00eet d’En Calcat in Dourgne, France.<\/p>\n<\/div>
