Our editorial staff recently received an update<\/a> from Abbot Edmund Wagenhofer reporting that on Thursday, 17 February 2022, the new Abbot President of the Slav Benedictine Congregation, Jeronim Marin, was consecrated in the cathedral in Zadar, Croatia by Archbishop \u017delimir Pulji\u0107. Afterward, Archbishop Pulji\u0107 invited the council of the Slav Congregation to a buffet and received them very kindly.<\/p>\n

New Abbot President Jeronim Marin is the Prior of Cokovac Priory<\/a> in Croatia. Abbot Edmund noted that there has not been an abbatial consecration in Croatia for more than 200 years. He sent us a link to the news report published in Croatia, found here<\/a>. The many pictures show the great participation of priests and lay people in this celebration. Abbot Edmund was also happy to report that the nuns of Sv. Maria in Zadar were allowed to come to the cathedral for the celebration.<\/p>\n

Abbot Edmund Wagenhofer, Prior of Maribor Priory<\/a> in Slovenia, was the previous Abbot President of the Slav Benedictine Congregation. He reports that he and all of the attendees were very excited by this joyful occasion.
