Fr. Michael Hall was born in 1939. A native of Washington, DC, began his education at St. Francis Xavier parish and continued at St. Anselm\u2019s, then known as the Priory School. After two years at Georgetown University, he joined the monastic community and completed his undergraduate studies at The Catholic University of America. He became a respected teacher at St. Anselm\u2019s, where he taught both history and religion. Committed to lifelong learning, he pursued advanced studies in history, including time at the University of Edinburgh and Cambridge University. His administrative skills led him to serve as associate headmaster for six years and then as headmaster for sixteen, during which time he achieved accreditation for the school, expanded its curriculum, and added a sixth grade.<\/p>\n
Following his retirement as headmaster in 1992, Fr. Michael spent time at a Benedictine priory in Montreal before serving as chaplain at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. Upon returning to St. Anselm\u2019s, he resumed teaching and became active in pastoral ministry, offering support to local parishes and religious communities. He continued to contribute significantly to the life of the monastic community through various leadership roles, including regular election to the abbey council and service as secretary for its annual chapter meetings.<\/p>\n
Throughout his life, Fr. Michael was known for his dedication to education, ministry, and the Benedictine community. His commitment to service and his thoughtful leadership left a lasting impact on those around him. His confreres deeply valued his wisdom and steady presence, and he is remembered with gratitude and respect.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
