The Lord of life and death has called Fr. Matth\u00e4us (Volker) Sandrock OSB <\/span>to His eternal glory on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at M\u00fcnsterschwarzach Abbey.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fr. Matth\u00e4us was born in 1942, in Hannoversch-M\u00fcnden. He entered M\u00fcnsterschwarzach in 1961. By professing his vows in 1962, he joined the monastic community and was ordained a priest in 1967. From 1969 to 1987, he led the abbey\u2019s guesthouse. From 1987 to 1999, he served as superior at the St. Benedict Study House and College in W\u00fcrzburg. He was pastor from 1999 to 2017 in the parishes of Stadtschwarzach, Schwarzenau, and Reupelsdorf. Afterward, he served as chaplain at Maria Frieden Abbey in Kirchschletten until 2020.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Requiem Mass for Fr. Matth\u00e4us will be celebrated on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM in the Abbey Church. May God receive him into His glory.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
