The participants discussed the following topics:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The upcoming Abbots Congress in 2024, including procedures for the election of the next abbot primate;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a new Order of Saint Benedict Confederation calendar;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">recent experiences with the election of brothers as major superiors;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the development of an online Catalogus for the Benedictine Confederation;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.collegiosantanselmo.com\/en\/\">Collegio Sant&#8217;Anselmo<\/a>, which boasts full occupancy this year;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.anselmianum.com\/it\/\">Ateneo Sant&#8217;Anselmo<\/a>, which is going very well;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the finances of the Confederation and Sant&#8217;Anselmo regarding inflation and commensurate contributions;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.benedictines-cib.org\/\">Communio Internationalis Benedictinarum<\/a> and the developments regarding Benedictine women; and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">individual reports from the 19 congregations.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The hospitality at Conception Abbey was very impressive. One abbot president expressed appreciation for the &#8222;American generosity&#8220; of &#8222;one of the great monastic houses of our time&#8220;.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The abbots president also visited the nearby community of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.benedictinesisters.org\/articledetail.php?id=629&amp;start=0&amp;status=1&amp;m_year=2023\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Benedictine Sisters of Perpetual Adoration<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Clyde, Missouri, for Vespers and supper on 30 August. During the years after World War I, this Benedictine community did much to help the starving communities of Europe survive. In exchange they got a lot of relics, and subsequently built a special relics chapel to house them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On 1 September, the members of the Permanent Commission of the Synod were re-elected: Abbot Maksymilian Nawara of the Annuntiation Congregation, Abbot Anthony Puthenpurackal of the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.silvestrini.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Silvestrine Order<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and Abbot Jeremias of the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ottilien.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Saint Ottilien Congregation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The latter was also reconfirmed as vicar of the abbot primate.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-fullwidth fullwidth-box fusion-builder-row-3 fusion-flex-container
