HABEMUS ABBATEM!<\/p>\n
On 18 August 2023, the monks of K\u00f6nigsm\u00fcnster Abbey elected, for a term of 12 years, Fr. Cosmas Hoffmann OSB as their fifth abbot.<\/p>\n
P. Cosmas was born in Dortmund in 1965. On 30 September 1988, he made his profession at K\u00f6nigsm\u00fcnster Abbey and, after studies in Paderborn, Jerusalem and Bonn, was ordained priest on 28 May 1994. He earned his doctorate in fundamental theology with a thesis on the monk and missiologist Thomas Ohm, who is buried in our cemetery.<\/p>\n
He was appointed subprior in 2013 and became prior in 2020. Before that he was head of the guest area, had responsibility for the young brothers of the abbey as master of the temporarily professed, and held a teaching position at the Philosophical-Theological College of the Steyl Missionaries in Saint Augustin. Fr. Cosmas is involved in the monastic association of the Missionary Benedictines, in interreligious dialogue and lectures at the Campus for Theology and Spirituality in Berlin.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
